Celebration of Louis Armstrong’s Music – Denny Ilett Jnr Trio

Join us at Oaken Grove Vineyard for an afternoon of Jazz, accompanied by delicious local wines, beers and food.It is the 50th anniversary of the passing of the legendary Louis Armstrong this week, so join us to celebrate his music on American Independence Day.
Denny Ilett Jnr is a virtuoso British guitarist and a talented writer/arranger, who has honed his chops both on the UK scene and by playing and touring with some of New Orleans finest, including Lillian Boutte. He works as regular guitarist for saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis (James Brown), Adrian Utley (Portishead), Will Gregory (Goldfrapp) and Charles Hazelwood (BBC concert orchestra).
Enrico Tomasso started playing the trumpet at 5 years old after hearing Louis Armstrong play Basin Street Blues. At the age of 7 he then met and played for his hero during Louis’ last visits to the UK. Today he himself is considered one of the top jazz trumpeters and is a frequent winner of the trumpet category in the British Jazz Awards.
Andy Crowdy is a highly rated bass player who has performed with many leading UK players including Gary Potter, Diz Disley, Clark Tracey, Alan Barnes and Tina May as well as touring all over the world with Lillian Boutte.
Vineyard gates open at midday and guests are welcome to enjoy drinks on the wine terrace before the jazz starting at around 3pm.
Tables for 6, 4, 3 and 2 people are available. Wines from our own vineyard as well as some other local beers and guest wines will be available to order, as well as food offering (further details TBC). Every table of 6 will receive a complimentary bottle of wine.
Full Covid prevention measures will be in place, and we ask all our guests to follow guidelines.
