The Led Zeppelin Project
Oaken Grove Vineyard are thrilled to by hosting The Led Zep Project’s annual gig on Saturday 24th July.
The band grew up listening to Led Zeppelin in the 1970s, learning the music by playing along with the records – they loved every minute of it, and they still do!
The Led Zep Project is not a ‘tribute band’ – they do not look like they’ve stepped off the set of The Song Remains The Same. Similar to Led Zeppelin themselves, they do not play the music of Led Zeppelin note-for-note, and like Led Zeppelin, they are a band of disparate virtuosi from across musical realms who come together with the shared goal of performing great music as it was meant to be heard; tight but with the element of risk and improvisation that made each Zeppelin performance unique.
Each band member is a longstanding professional musician. The group comes together, whenever they feel like it, to share their love and respect for Page, Plant, Jones and Bonham. The project started as a labour of love; as an escape from each individual’s touring and recording schedule, and it continues to be so some 20-odd years later.
Vocals – Ady Davey; Guitar – Denny Ilett; Bass – Jerry Soffe; Drums – Sam Wilkinson; Guitar + Keyboards – Andy Crowdy
